Why is obesity so relevant in our western society? Why is cancer on the rise? Why does infertility exist at alarming rates?

When I talk to people about nutrition the first place I highlight is the quality of where their food is sourced from… the more holistic you can take your diet the better. Bread from organic non-bleached flour, which you make yourself, may contain the same number of macronutrients as a store-bought slice of bread but what it does on the inside is entirely different. Enter in to the story potassium bromate…
Potassium bromate (KBrO3) is an oxidizing agent that has been used as a food additive, mainly in the bread-making process, in order to add color (whiter) and strength to the dough… It has been demonstrated that KBrO3 induces renal cell tumors, mesotheliomas of the peritoneum, and follicular cell tumors of the thyroid.
Potassium bromate is banned in several countries, including Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union. In America California requires anything containing Potassium Bromate to be labeled but there are no other regulations on the ingredient.
So why then, like many other deadly food additives, does the FDA allow these ingredients to be put into our foods?
If the government and its affiliates cared about the American people they would never allow additives like potassium bromate to be placed in to our breads when research has proven it to be harmful to human beings when consumed.
Perhaps, allowing humans to consume potassium bromate will increase their risk of cancer thus increasing their value to the medical industry. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I find it odd.
You be the judge of the reason for this ingredient to be put in flour but regardless of their reasoning, avoid all food items with this ingredient.
